Well, Hello Dolly! ... Bonus Game (Game 6+: Cubs 7 - Mets 1)

Such a fun day. Because Jacob joined for the weekend (he heads back to Seattle Sunday morning, so really just Friday evening and Saturday), we packed today.

Late this morning we headed from our hotel in Queens to Manhattan for a super lunch.

On the subway ride we took note of NY's efforts to curry our favor (you will recall the escort in Texas) by naming a street in our honor and including it in a subway stop.

Oh, I hope the silliness ends soon!

Next we made our way to the matinee performance of Hello Dolly! Bernadette Peters performed the lead in one of her last few performances before her planned, permanent retirement. Such a treat.

For the evening, we made our way back to Citi Field (still park #6) for a second session of the Cubs v. Mets. Note: In a few locals where we catch the Cubs at the visitors, we are making an effort to catch two. Jacob's visit made this the obvious choice.

We were also so pleased to be joined by one of our God sons, Blake. Blake has recently joined MLB Network, working here in the NY/NJ area. He loves baseball and we were excited to spend some time catching up.

This game turned out to be a gem ... a four hour, 55 minute gem to be exact ... going a full 14 innings. The Mets set a franchise record with 24 strike-out and the game remained ties 1-1 through 13. In the top of the 14th, the Cubs broke it open with 6 runs.

This may very well be the longest game we see for the summer. It sure was a great way to end a great day!

We are on the road through New England as we make our way to Boston for our next game, Tuesday evening. Stay tuned for more adventures.
