Game 8: Blue Jays 5 - Orioles 4

When we departed Boston, following the game at Fenway, we made our way to Hanover, NH for our overnight. The next morning (Wednesday), we set out from Hanover (home of Dartmouth) toward Montreal, along the east side of Lake Champlain.

We crossed into Canada and I realized that the Montreal Expos moved to Washington in 2004. So, we rounded the northern tip of Lake Champlain and 30 minutes later reentered the US on the west side of the lake, bound for Niagra Falls.

We spent the rest of Wednesday skirting the southern edge of Lake Ontario and overnighted in Rochester.

Thursday we departed Rochester heading for the Smokin' Little Diner in Buffalo. The promised diner food with a BBQ flare. They did not disappoint. We shared a BBQ breakfast plate that was delicious.

Next we headed for Niagra Falls. We first visited the US side.

Very pretty. (Note: Although, Niagra is much more commercialized than I recall as a boy 40 years ago.)

Then we visited the Canadian side.

Oh my! The Canadian horseshoe falls are really beautiful.

After Niagra we headed to Toronto and the site of our 8th park (Rogers Centre).

We stayed close to the park and the Toronto needle.

The park was prettier that I expected, in part because the roof was open (interesting roof design).

We had great seats and enjoyed a close, relatively quick game until the Orioles took a 4-1 in the 7th and 8th innings.

In the bottom on the 9th with one out, things got interesting. The Blue Jays scored 3 to tie 4-4. The result, our second game with "free baseball". The Jays went on to win the game in the bottom of 10.

Following the late night, we are getting a late start and today will be off to Detroit for our visit to park #9 tonight.
